Tomato STEROL GLYCOSYLTRANSFERASE 1 silencing unveils a major role of steryl glycosides in plant and fruit development

چکیده
Free and glycosylated sterols localize in the plant cell plasma membrane, where combination with other lipids regulate its structure function. The role of regulating membrane-associated biological processes is more relevant plants like tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), which are predominant sterols. A proper ratio free versus has proven to be essential for performance several species, but almost nothing known tomato. To assess fruit development, we generated transgenic lines cultivar Micro-Tom expressing two different amiRNAs devised silence STEROL GLYCOSYLTRANSFERASE 1, most actively expressed four genes encoding sterol glycosyltransferases this plant. 1 gene silencing caused moderate dwarfism reduced size. Analysis profile throughout development demonstrated that maintenance levels these compounds during early stages normal growth, since trigger a transcriptional downregulatory response affects involved critical such as seed filling, wall extension auxin signaling.

متن کاملEnzymatic hydrolysis of steryl ferulates and steryl glycosides
Steryl ferulates (SF) and steryl glycosides (SG) are phytosterol conjugates found characteristically in cereals. Currently, little is known about their properties with respect to enzymatic hydrolysis. SF and SG were extracted and puriWed from rye and wheat bran. Their percentages of hydrolysis with diVerent enzymes were studied using normal phase HPLC with UV detection for steryl ferulates and ...
متن کاملSilencing GRAS2 reduces fruit weight in tomato.
GRAS family transcription factors are involved in multiple biological processes in plants. Here, we report that GRAS2 plays a vital role in regulating fruit weight in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum). We establish that the expression of GRAS2 was elevated in ovaries and maintained at a constant level in fertilized ovules. Reduction of GRAS2 expression in transgenic plants reduced fruit weight thro...

Silencing of the mitochondrial ascorbate synthesizing enzyme L-galactono-1,4-lactone dehydrogenase affects plant and fruit development in tomato.
L-Galactono-1,4-lactone dehydrogenase (EC 1.3.2.3) catalyzes the last step in the main pathway of vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) biosynthesis in higher plants. In this study, we first characterized the spatial and temporal expression of SlGalLDH in several organs of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) plants in parallel with the ascorbate content. P(35S):Slgalldh(RNAi) silenced transgenic tomato lines w...
